Abilita and Promentor Oy are joining forces to offer municipalities a ready-made solution for implementing early language learning. An integration has been implemented between Abilita's Daisy early childhood education system and Promentor's Moomin Language School learning application, making it easier to deploy and use the service in municipalities. Moomin Language School can be ordered directly through Abilita.
The early childhood education curriculum updated in autumn 2018 raised early language teaching as an important theme in early childhood education. The early introduction of A1 language teaching, taking effect at the beginning of 2020, brings the teaching of the first foreign language to the first grade of primary school. However, due to the scarcity of public funds, recruiting or training language-skilled staff is not possible everywhere.
With the help of a digital learning environment, early language teaching is easy and effortless to implement in all early childhood education units of a municipality, regardless of the language skills of the staff. Children learn the language independently with the help of the digital application, leaving the teacher's role to support learning and organize play sessions using ready-made materials. In addition to daycare, children can also practice the language with the application at home together with their parents. Children learn the language through play in a digital learning environment while language awareness in municipal early childhood education increases.
The collaboration between Abilita and Promentor Oy enables fast and easy deployment of Moomin Language School for Daisy system users. Data entered into the Daisy system is transferred via an interface to Moomin Language School, which reduces the amount of manual work in municipalities.
Moomin Language School is a Finnish digital learning environment developed for early language teaching. With the application, children can learn English or Finnish as a second language (S2). Moomin Language School is used in hundreds of daycare centers and schools across Finland. The interface between Moomin Language School and the Daisy system is already operational, and Moomin Language School can be ordered directly through Abilita.
