In a co-production between HAAGA-HELIA University of Applied Sciences and Promentor under the Suomen Verkko-Opisto project, online business communication learning materials were produced in four different languages: English, Russian, Swedish, and Chinese. Teachers from language degree programs and executive assistant education, along with client companies, participated in the execution. Target groups include business educational institutions and all internationally operating companies.
The business communication courses are practical and versatile programs intended for both independent study and teacher-led learning. The skill level of English, Russian, and Swedish courses is B1–B2, while the starting level for Chinese business communication is A2.
The English business communication course includes templates for common documents and correspondence used in business, such as offers, orders, and invitations, along with plenty of practice exercises related to them. The Russian course covers standards, structure, and style of Russian business letters, typical grammatical structures, and email communication. The course is ideal for higher education institutions and companies doing business in Russia. Swedish business communication also includes a cultural section outlining differences between Finnish and Swedish corporate cultures. The Chinese course is designed for those who have studied Chinese for about a year and want to learn business-focused vocabulary and communication.
The Suomen Verkko-Opisto project involved the following companies and educational institutions: Promentor Solutions Oy, Viope Solutions Oy, Rockway Oy, Mikrolinna Oy, Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences, Sibelius Academy, Tapiola High School, Nummi-Pusula School, Espoo Adult Education Centre, Helsinki Finnish Adult Education Centre, and Kouvola Community College.
