Promentor and Espoo Adult Education Centre Collaborate on Immigrant Language Training

Promentor Solutions Oy and Espoo Adult Education Centre have signed an agreement on digital Finnish language learning material, Suomi Tutuksi (Getting to Know Finnish).

The starting point for the Suomi Tutuksi online course is the everyday communication needs of young and adult immigrants in a new language. The student learns to introduce themselves, talk about their background, family, and home. They learn transaction phrases and shopping vocabulary. For example, they will be able to talk about what they plan to do and arrange a meeting with another person. The course allows practicing speaking and pronunciation. What is special about the course is that it accounts for the differences between written and spoken language: “Onko sinulla talvitakki? – Onks sulla talvitakki?” Both expressions are recorded and can be studied online using a digital language studio.

The Suomi Tutuksi language course was created within the framework of the Suomen Verkko-Opisto project. The purpose of the project is to develop nationally important learning solutions and new operating methods through collaboration between educational institutions and companies, to create new expertise, and to offer products, services, and comprehensive solutions to markets both within and outside Finland's borders. Suomen Verkko-Opisto is intended to serve as a distribution channel for digital learning materials, content, and services developed in collaboration between companies and educational institutions.
