NEW COURSES COMING
Produced in cooperation between Promentor and HAAGA-HELIA University of Applied Sciences, business communication is being created for four different languages. English and Russian are already completed. Swedish business communication will be completed in December 2014. It is a practical and versatile program intended for both self-study and teacher-led work. The program is suitable for use in educational institutions and companies teaching Swedish business communication. Next year, the package will also be completed with Chinese business communication.
German for exchange students has been developed in cooperation with the Sibelius Academy of the University of the Arts Helsinki. It is a language course specifically aimed at art students to practice German interaction in situations related to student exchange. The course also includes plenty of general language. The course will be completed in October-November 2014.
English for Musicians course is created in cooperation with Tapiola High School. Music English is an intermediate language course for students and professionals working in the music field. Specialized terminology is learned through dialogues, texts, and interactive exercises. The course will likewise be completed in October-November.

Language and Communication Teachers' Conference in Rovaniemi
Promentor is participating in the Universities of Applied Sciences Language and Communication Teachers' Conference on November 13–14, 2014 in Rovaniemi!
Welcome to hear Promentor's presentation Benefits of Technology for Language Teaching on Thursday, November 13 from 3 PM to 3:30 PM. On the same day, the program also includes presentations by HAAGA-HELIA University of Applied Sciences teachers on the implementation of digital materials produced in cooperation with Promentor.

Things happening at Suomen Verkko-Opisto… Teacher blogs – a two-part webinar series
Blogs offer diverse possibilities for announcements, keeping a learning diary, student guidance, collaborative learning, and even maintaining a website. A blog is easy to set up, but using it requires knowledge about usage possibilities, best practices, and many settings that can be configured in a blog.
This two-part training covers blog possibilities, setup, configuring basic settings, and publishing and commenting on blog posts. Additionally, participants explore a few key educational themes such as blog publicity, protection, and data security. The package consists of two 1.5-hour webinars. Webinars include an intermediate assignment for which learners receive personal feedback.
Training dates: October 30 and November 13, 2014 from 2:30 PM to 4:00 PM
Location: Virtual training, requiring a PC/MAC, internet connection, and headphones (with microphone)
Price: Two webinars total €120 + VAT. Note: Webinars will be held if there are 8 or more participants.
Great Future Discussion Panel
The Great Future Discussion panel continues from April's event under the theme:
· What will a teacher's work be like in five years?
· Will digitalization be part of it?
· If so, to what extent?
· Why are teachers still somewhat hesitant to use digital learning materials?
Confirmed panelists include Jouni Kangasniemi, Ministry of Education and Culture; Piia Simpanen, Technology Industries of Finland; Mikko Jordman, Principal of Nurmijärvi High School; and Juha Telkkinen, Suomen Verkko-Opisto.
The panel is moderated by Reidar Wasenius, an experienced trainer and coach, trilingual presenter and moderator, journalist, author, and Brainobic instructor. At the start of the event, a refreshing Brainobic workout is guaranteed!
